Amazon to pilot lending Kindle eBooks through Overdrive

Given the superiority of the Kindle app to the OverDrive interface, this is wonderful news. I'm still eagerly awaiting the announcement that someone is going to compete directly with OverDrive in this space, though.

    I just read today that it may be later this year for Kindle owners.

    I am thinking this Kindle-library lending relationship will be the catalyst for improvements to digital book lending. In excitement and anticipation, I purchased the less expensive Kindle last week. I know it could be several months until borrowing books is an option. I read that over 11,000 libraries will be involved.
